My Rating: 5/5
Vampire Hunter #1
Short Summary: After a terrible accident, Aurora struggles to understand the changes her body is going through since the federal government saved her life. While trying to juggle her normal teenage life, she is now being trained to hunt down and kill vampires.
My Review: This book is the first in the series, so it introduces you to the main characters and the beginning of Aurora’s transformation into a vampire hunter. Her entire body, including all her organs, have to be replaced when she is in a car accident that leaves her terrified of riding in the car.
She begins to find her courage as she is taught to fend for herself, during her training, and when she meets her new body guard. It’s not until she starts falling for an attractive, dangerous boy at school does she begin to realize the difficulty of trying to continue a normal teenage life.
Vampire Hunter #1 keeps a steady pace. It’s enough to keep me interested and asking questions, but it’s a little slower than I like. It sets the stage for new adventures and introduction to new characters, but it only grazes the surface of what is going on in Aurora’s life. I hope the amount of romance stays about the same, and that the action in the story increases.
I’m curious why Aurora even bothers continuing school. It seems a little pointless for her to try to have a normal life after a change that dramatic. I’m also curious how her new relationship will turn out with the guys she is surrounded by and who she will ultimately end up with. So, we will see where it goes from here.
